What's Wrong With This?

This is a comment that was posted on the "Return Again" blog entry.

"I think israel is an amazing place you know that I do and I love it but i know that if I take a year out of school I wont be able to get back into it."

I'm quite busy these days so I'm hoping for some people to post responses to the poor reasoning of this statement. I mean talk about your lame excuses not to go to Israel for the year. What do you say people?

The excuse is basically because the kid doesnt care about israel...and u cant force him to go, but it doesnt make the excuse any more lame.

It's actually a she, and I think she does love Israel (she says so in the statement), but yes still- very- oh- so- lame.

I do not mean to offend, and i apologize if i did. Israel is amazing and i am glad you love it.
But i know too many people who say they "love israle" and refuse to go out of laziness and make up annoying excuses...not that that is the case, but that is what i am used to hearing.
"getting back into school" isnt as difficult a thing and takes maybe a month tops to do. To sacrifice a month of working harder to go to israel for a year is pretty worth it to me. The family one may be a better excuse but the education one is pretty lame. Besides, as a guy who has been working for a couple months already, i can honestly say that the real world sucks and i would love to have taken more time in isarel and abroad beforehand because it is something i will never do again (until i make aliyah in the very near future i hope).

I think you're actually proving our point more, rather than making yours. The year is Israel is spent learning Torah, which can facilitate one intellectually more than anything in the world.

Those who succeed in Israel almost always succeed in college. In fact, the most succesful people I know went to Israel for the year (and then ripped it up in College). My friends who went straight to college, ALL did poorly Freshman year b/c they partied too much. If you really want to succeed, you'll go to Israel.
